Hello Families,
We had a good, full week of school! Lots of learning and fun:)
I have sent many students (some repeat customers:) to the nurse this past week. Some of the students are saying they do not feel well and want to go to the nurse...I am afraid this has become an "epidemic"😂. If you could please talk to your child about being honest about feeling sick, we would appreciate it. I am quite sure parents would not send their child to school knowing they are sick and, although it can happen that children develop illness as the day goes on, it is not as frequent as some of the students think. We will talk about being truthful so that when there is a time when a student does not feel well, we all believe them without a doubt! Mrs. Philpot is a very busy lady and I want to make sure she is available for those who really need her! Thank you for your help here:)
If your child is working on Lexia at home, please note that it is really important that your child does these on their own! Of course you can help with directions, however, I look over their progress and can make instruction based on their results so it is important that I am seeing a representation of what they know- I hope that makes sense! We have had older siblings "helping" in the past and the skills look advanced when I check but the student is unable to produce the same work in class.
FUN RUN UPDATE:
The Fun Run on October 17th will be replacing the Springfest event, which is Shaker Lane's biggest fund raiser. The money raised will go toward buses for field trips, all school programs (such as Kindkids Music, Pumpernickle Puppets, and other enrichment programs) and SO much more. It will be "run" 😆 during the school day so no need to add to your already busy calendars. It will be a super fun movement break during our day👏!
HERE is the newest Fun Run video!
