This week, the children will:
Language Arts-
- begin work on a new book called Now and Ben, which is about Ben Franklin.
- write about something they feel lucky to have
- reading decodable books about the first cars and Amelia Earhart
- arrange letter tiles spell words
- determine if a CVC word is real or nonsense
- practice two new trick words: this, was
- label the parts of a leprechaun
- write/spell short vowel words that have been dictated to them
Math-
We will spend this week reviewing ways to make 10 by playing lots of games and making a few projects. This is a skill that is difficult for all the students and I feel they need more practice before their unit assessment.
Second Step- lesson #21 : fair ways to play
Science- we will be finishing up our discussions about winter (I have had enough 😂). We will be learning a little about how rainbows are formed and, to compliment our new book about Ben Franklin, the children will be inventing something of their own over the next few weeks!

We poured salt over an ice balloon and then listened for it to "crack"!
Exploring with a giant ice "balloon" and watching the different colors freeze on top and then melt and make cracks in the ice...also experimenting with colors! We also explored snow and looked for 6 sided snowflakes...
