Hello Families!
I cannot believe we are in November...This month is going to be quite fractured, which is tough for consistency in the classroom. We have been working really hard on listening to teacher directions and following those directions. The students are also working on not talking out of turn. Overall, the children are understanding what "independent work time" looks like and sounds like. They are getting so good at the routines and I love seeing the friendships forming! I have a lot to talk to you about at our November conference...(hint to sign up๐).
Starting on Monday, we will have Mrs. Mondal in our classroom. Mrs. Mondal is studying to be a teacher! She will be doing some of her student teaching in our room for the month of November. I am super excited to have her and I told her we have THE BEST class from which to learn!๐ I KNOW she will fall in love with kindergarten- it's where the magic happens!
Also starting on Monday- our food drive begins! In 2 of the recent Wit and Wisdom books, there has been an emphasis on soup kitchens and bringing joy to those in need. We have been discussing soup kitchens and what they do for a community. Room 103 had decided we would do a can drive and then we found out that Shaker Lane is beginning a food drive on Monday, too! So, it is perfect timing to teach the children to give to their community in need. It is our small way of bringing some joy to those in need, which is what the characters in our books were doing. We are collecting food items in cans/boxes until Dec. 1.
