Jan. 16-20th Winter and Silly Sock Spirit Day!

Hello!
We will complete our winter theme this week and will have a lovely bulletin board to display in the K wing. The children had so much fun playing in the snow last week (see pictures below:)! We had a fun PJ Day and watched The Snowy Day with popcorn, too.

This week, the students will be working on writing uppercase letters, writing a true story and being more fluent with ABC order. Students will be tapping and blending LOTS of CVC words and nonsense words! The new trick word will be: have. They will participate in a phonics assessment as well.

In math, they will be comparing numbers within 10, sequencing numbers and practicing number writing. They will also complete the "growth measure" math assessment.

This Thursday is Silly Sock Day at Shaker Lane and we will have a community meeting.

A reminder that we only have snow play on Mon, Wed and Fri (if we get anymore snow!)

Kindergarten report cards will be available on ASPEN on Jan. 29th.

As of right now, barring any snow days, our 100th day of school is scheduled to be Feb. 6th. This is a BIG deal at Shaker Lane! Students are encouraged to bring in a collection of 100 things (can be anything!) or wear the number 100 on them somewhere. Be on the lookout for more information as it gets closer- I just wanted to give you the heads up!

Scholastic Book Club orders will be in pouches Tuesday 1/16    and will be due January 22, 2024. You can order and pay right online!

Here are some pictures from last week!

Here is a picture of Ellie and I playing in the snow after school last week 😍!

Snow Play!

Thank you to our Mystery Reader,
Ms. McNulty!

Math Games in small group- distinguishing the greater number in the group and telling me how many are "left over"

Science Center Exploration...watching an "ice balloon" come to room temperature and crack. The children also mixed colors onto the ice and watched them freeze onto the surface of the balloon!

Writing about what we like to do on a snowy day and then turning it into a "snow globe" for our bulletin board!

Our smart TV is pretty fun to write on!

Thank you to Mr. McNulty for being a Mystery Reader!
